The Promise of a Healthier Community

Supporting Your Health and Well-Being

As a not-for-profit organization, it’s our mission to support the health and well-being of Westside residents by connecting resources with needs in the community. The Foundation provides the charitable vehicle through which community donations and volunteer efforts can work together to provide enhanced health services and important health education programs to our Westside neighbors.

    • Providing pre-participation physicals to 150 boys and 50 girls for all sports, including cheerleading.

    • Partnering with the Merced County Sheriffs Department and Riggs Ambulance as sponsors of the Lost Child and First Aid Booth at the Merced County Spring Fair.

    • Continuing our sponsorship of free and low-cost health education programs, such as Car Seat Safety; Childbirth Preparation; CPR for Infants, Children and Adults; Children’s Health and Safety Fair; Stork Tours; Safe Sitters classes; as well as sponsoring local support groups for diabetes, cancer and breastfeeding.

    • Providing $20,000 for homeless sheltering and clothing through Westside Community Assistance.

    Volunteering

Our hospital volunteers are a huge part of our team, and truly help make a difference in the lives of others. This group consists of dozens of volunteers who donate their time (6,000 hours and growing!) and talents to provide compassionate assistance and support to our patients, visitors and staff. Many of our high school student volunteers get valuable experience while they log community service hours required by many colleges and universities.

Specifically, our dedicated volunteers help MHLB transport patients, deliver linen, direct visitors and run the gift shop. Sales from the gift shop are used to purchase medical equipment and provide scholarships to high school students pursuing a career in the medical field.
